An online credit card processor recruited us to build an expansive "third party" credit card billing site; working closely with the major credit card companies and a large merchant bank, this site was to process credit cards for subscription sales web sites for a small fee. We created a fault-tolerant, redundant system that handled multiple simultaneous credit card transactions in way that way easy-to-use for both credit card holders and web site owners. Our technology was significantly more advanced than our client's competition, allowing them to offer greater flexibility and lower cost to their web site owners. This client made use of Rave Communications' flexibility and broad knowledge base. We performed significant front-end page layout, usability studies and graphic design. Back-end work was done in C++ and Perl using PostgreSQL as a data storage mechanism. In addition, we wrote custom credit card authentication software capable of handling a high volume of transactions. We worked under a strict confidentiality agreement, and our client was very satisfied.
